The site has been adjusted. The author changed the intro stating that not all work depicted is stock, and to check with the artist first, and dA was removed from the list.

I was shown this site by ~photographydomine and it made me very very upset.
I have been the victim, as I am sure many of you have, of someone using my art without my knowledge or consent. People believe that if it's there, they can take it, and that mentality pisses me off!
Here is this website titled "16 Ultimate Collection of Free Stock Photography"

and yes.... deviantart is second on the list.
Now I don't know about you... but my work isn't stock... and I don't want people coming on here thinking it is. I love dA and I don't want to leave it.. but with shit like this and people being able to just right mouse click all over the place, I don't know if I can stay.
grrrrr.

I would put a reminder on all your photos that these images are not stock. Also only upload 400x600 size pictures. That way they really cannot do anything with them print wise anyway.
It is a shame that people would steel from a model/photographer but making them aware of the difference between your work and stock work does make them think twice.

I urge all dA members, and dA themselves to do the same. I also agree with you about allowing an artist to have the download and "right click" function disabled. dA should support that feature as an effort to help their constituency protect their intellectual property.

I wouldn't make a big deal about trying to get dA to disable right-click saving of images. It is trivial to get around so it does nothing but create a false sense of security.
Uploading reasonable-sized but low density images limits the secondary use that can be made of images. Heavy-handed watermarks ruin the art for the legitimate viewer, but careful signing of the image makes it recognizably non-stock.
Hang in there,
Steve
